About Us

Meet Ana

As an animal care specialist, my services cater to pets with a range of medical, behavioural, and cognitive needs, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, mood disorders, epilepsy, visual impairment, and specific behaviour management requirements.

My top priority is the wellness of all pets. I strive to maintain constant communication, ensuring each pet’s safety, physical health, and emotional well-being. With certification in pet first-aid, I specialize in post-operative care for pets, including neutered or spayed pets, dental work, and hip surgery.

My clientele is varied, from first-time pet owners to rescues, from shy pets to vocal-pulling dogs, from over-enthusiastic jumpers to playful biters. I excel at providing solutions for separation anxiety and reactive animals.

Additionally, I am an active volunteer at the SF SPCA, specializing in shelter pets that require medical attention and care in stressful conditions. I also plan to volunteer at AKC events focused on hunting, scent work, behavioural modifications, and more. Along with my pet care services, I also offer training sessions in home manners, youth handler mentoring, and long-term mentorship opportunities in outdoor dog sports.

Rest assured that your pets will receive personalized care from a qualified professional passionate about their well-being.

Health and wellness

I am dedicated to promoting your beloved pets’ overall health and well-being. With my certification in pet first aid and my experience in caring for post-operative pets, including those who have undergone procedures like spaying/neutering, dental work, or hip surgery, I am well-equipped to provide the care and attention that your pets need.

One of my top priorities is maintaining open lines of communication with my clients to ensure their pets’ safety and happiness daily. Whether you are a first-time pet owner, have adopted a rescue animal, or own a specific breed, I have worked with a diverse range of pets, including shy animals, dogs in training, energetic jumpers, and pets who tend to be mouthy. Additionally, I specialize in assisting with separation anxiety and reactive behaviors.

Outdoor Engagement

Your dog(s) may spend all day outdoors on adventures to explore the beach, long walks, sniff for hidden surprises, splash in water play, run across field grounds, discover the city by foot, and roll in fresh grass.

Low-Stress Environment

I strive to create a low-stress environment for your pet(s). I am sensitive to the needs of each pet and closely monitor them for signs of exhaustion or discomfort. I ensure that all pets feel safe and secure. I communicate with the pet owners daily, sending photos and videos, so you can see your pet happy throughout their stay.

I also ensure that each pet has access to their belongings, such as opening their bag near them so they can recognize familiar things from home.

Consent checks are done regularly to ensure the pet is comfortable with activities or interactions with other animals or people. Boundaries are set to ensure safety for all involved.

Most importantly, I make your pet(s) feel at ease by providing comfort and attentiveness throughout their stay. I strive to follow routines like home, such as wake-up times, night routines, and meal times, so pets feel the least distress possible!

Indoor Engagement

Indoor activities for pets 12 weeks old and up, including seniors with mobility limitations, can include various games. “Find it” and “Touch” are games that involve teaching your dog to touch its nose to various objects or items.

We may practice walking on a leash around furniture or in a small space like a hallway. Playing with balls, chews, soft toys, flirt poles, and tug-of-war toys are great ways to engage indoors. Following me around the house is another fun activity that keeps them entertained and uses their natural tracking skills. For a more playful activity, scent-based games like hide-and-seek with treats or cuddles as bonding time!

Qualifications

I am certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), which emphasizes my commitment to providing effective and compassionate care. Additionally, I have completed courses in first-aid and CPR for dogs and cats, preparing me to handle any emergency situations with your pets.

Achievements

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some pretty cool projects. This includes canine bite prevention initiatives, fostering safer interactions between dogs and kids, and delving into fascinating areas such as ethology, genetics, and breed-specific behavior.

Knowledge

When it comes to understanding our four-legged friends, I’ve developed a comprehensive understanding. I consider factors such as breed-specific behavior, ethology, and genetics, and I’m dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in pet care.

Training

While I won’t be promoting training services here, I can share that my experience spans various aspects of pet care. This includes obedience and engagement, potty training, leash walking, promoting the art of play, understanding the basics of training tools, and mastering the ‘walk behind’ technique.

Community

I live in a great community with access to dog-friendly parks and restaurants. I have experience with senior dogs who need engaging, short, and gentle walks and with energetic dogs that like to work and have a high prey drive. Be assured that I’ll only book your pet(s) so that they can receive individual care.

In conclusion, my journey in pet care has been driven by my love for animals and my commitment to their well-being. From preventive measures like canine bite prevention to understanding the nuances of pet behavior, my goal is to make a positive impact on their lives. If you have any questions or are curious about my experiences, feel free to reach out. Let’s keep the conversation going!
